Quality Built Homes BER Assessors

QBH are BER Assessors

A BER is simply an energy label for your home similar to that on electrical appliances eg. Fridge. The label has a scale of A-G. A-rated homes are the most energy efficient and G the least efficient. Since 1st of January 2009 a BER certificate is compulsory for all homes being offered for sale or lease.

In order to achieve higher ratings developers will be required to design dwellings which go above the minimum standards and which include energy efficient features such as condensing boilers, passive solar design, energy efficient glazing, increased insulation levels, renewable energy technologies, etc.

New Dwellings, Building Energy Rating Certificate (BER)

From the 1st January 2007 all new dwellings require a BER Certificate prior to occupancy. The earlier a BER assessment is carried out in the design stage, the easier it is to incorporate more energy efficient materials and technologies. There is a maximum fine of up to €5,000.00 for not having a BER Cert when required

What are the benefits of a BER?

A BER rates the energy performance of a dwelling on a scale of A to G, for prospective buyers and tenants. ‘A’ being the most energy efficient, thus enabling them to take energy efficiency into consideration in their next house purchase or rental decision.

Air Pressure Testing

The revised building regulations of 24th of January 2008 introduced mandatory air pressure testing for new dwellings. All new dwellings require an air pressure test from the 1st of July 2008.
